About Me
My name is Jan. I am a Southern California native and a graduate of UCLA. I grew up in the outskirts of LA spending my youth riding horses in the beautiful orange groves of the San Fernando Valley. After graduating with a degree in economics, I met my other half, and together we raised three beautiful girls, while running a business.
Early in our marriage I became involved with my husband’s dental practice, where for 30-plus years I managed the business and became immersed in the world of healthcare. In this role I had the unique opportunity to learn about the healthcare industry from both the Provider and the patient’s perspective. I began to appreciate how difficult it is to understand when deductibles are applied, the difference between co-pays, co-insurance, and network vs. out-of-network services. One consistent theme I saw throughout the years was the lack of understanding most patients had for their health insurance policies. Patients needed assistance from someone familiar with insurance to help outline what their coverage included, what expected out of pocket costs there might be and how to maximize the policy’s coverage. While much has changed in Healthcare over the last 30 years, one thing has not, the complexity of the health insurance industry.
Early in 2019, I lost my partner in life. This life changing event led me to the decision to move back to Southern California, where all three of my girls were living, and take my experience into the world of Medicare.
So Why Medicare
I am part of the Baby Boomer generation, at the tail end, but close enough that I started to think about my own Medicare options. I began to wonder if Medicare was any easier to understand and navigate through than the under 65 healthcare market. After some investigation I realized that Medicare was not simple. With the new models of care, Federal guidelines, and the number of Medicare plans to choose from, I realized it was very complex. I knew from experience how incredibly overwhelming this could be for many people. I found my new calling.
My Mission
I have a passion for helping people and enjoy sharing my knowledge of the healthcare industry. My mission is to assist those who may feel overwhelmed and help them through the complicated world of Medicare. I believe knowledge is power. My goal is to empower people with the information they need, and provide them with support during this decision making process.
